Dorint Hotel in Mönchengladbach changes hands
Greif & Contzen brokers deal with Helvetic Investment
Helvetic Investment GmbH acquired the Dorint Hotel on Hohenzollernstrasse 5 in Mönchengladbach in the course of an off-market transaction. The sale was brokered by Greif & Contzen’s investment division on behalf of a community of sellers. The involved parties agreed not to publicise the sales price.
The 4-star standard hotel that was built in 1959 has been expanded and renovated a number of times in recent years. It currently features more than 162 rooms and 15 event rooms of between 20 and 180 square metres each. The hotel is located on a plot with a size of around 5,480 square metres. A restaurant and a spacious spa area featuring a gym, sauna area and physiotherapy practice are also part of the hotel. The conservatory and outdoor patio area attract hotel guests as well as local residents of Mönchengladbach.
The hotel is centrally located in direct vicinity of Mönchengladbach’s urban park “Bunter Garten” and the famous historic Kaiser-Friedrich Hall, making it popular among business travellers, tourists and overnight visitors, who come to the city to attend performances by the symphonic orchestra, musical and theatre productions, as well as private events. Visitors appreciate the quiet location near the city centre, with its excellent links to the motorway network and public transport options.
Helvetic Investment GmbH acquired the hotel in the form of an asset deal, including the Dorint Group’s leasing contract. The buyer is planning to reposition the hotel in the medium term. The hotel opened in 1959 as the first Dorint hotel and a “show house for interior design for hotels”. Owing to its prominent situation, the hotel has always had an outstanding reputation, and it is bound to continue its success story with its new owners.
Wiesbaden-based Helvetic Investment has owned real estate since the 1960s, and is an investor in the areas of commercial and hotel properties. During the transaction, the buyers were consulted by the law firm FPS (legal due diligence proceedings and purchasing contract negotiations – Frankfurt branch: Dietrich Sammer, Caroline Kuhr) and by KVL Bauconsult Frankfurt GmbH (technical due diligence proceedings – Peter Lohmann, Jan Schumann).
